Mirror, mirror on the wall …

Although I’ve got several videos and photos prepared to make up for the previous days of idleness I now find myself too idle again to post anything but this little video of tonight.

Erik and Lilly got their own mirrors today. Funny that we never thought of getting them some earlier. They were so excited about them from when they first laid eyes on them yesterday that not only did I have to store them on top of a cupboard over night, but also Lilly’s one is now hanging askew thanks to four little hands and faces irresistably attracted to it while I was trying to hang it up.

(oh, yes, and there’s also a half-naked Erik playing Basketnappy with Daddy)

I think Erik is trying to tell us something …

We recently considered sending Erik to a Montessori Kindergarten, but for certain reasons decided against it. He will be returning to his beloved Ulla at the German Kindergarten next week (3x per week, 9-12:30).

Not wanting to give up on the Montessori idea altogether I did some reading and implemented several ideas around the house and in our daily life – with very positive results already!

A lot more independence, greater appreciation and better as well as longer use of toys and altogether more balanced and relaxed kids!

Here’s Lilly this morning, happily on her mat and busy with her toy and book.

At the same time Erik was deeply lost in playing LEGO while listening to his CD.

And they love playing together (without any interruptions). New favorite is their spot under the braai where they hide away with their EtchoScetches.

A few minutes ago Erik broke into tears when Lilly didn’t want to play with him in the playhouse anymore. Now he seems to have found something to lure her back inside because they are both back inside chatting away.

So kann man auch mit kleinen Sachen …

Swimming Routines

When Erik and I go swimming at the gym then we always get a cappucchino muffin from the Kauai bar afterwards.

Daddy scoffed at this and when he took Erik swimming for the first time last weekend …

… the boys treated themselves to a coffee, a smoothie and … a cappuccino muffin afterwards.
