I love Bonn! (and cake mixture)
For Erik the most important part of a birthday is the cake; and it has to be a chocolate cake!
Unfortunately I am the worst baker in the world and even manage to mess up ready prepared cake mixtures/icings.
Fortunately they still turn out fairly tasty most of the time – even if the cake looks more like a brownie, the icing has soaked into the cake, etc.
I still insist on baking myself. Buying just isn’t the same. My creations are definitely full of love!!
I always loved cleaning the baking bowl. I still do – unfortunately I have to share these days.
If I was a better baker I would only make strawberry cakes!! Oh, how I miss my mother’s strawberry cakes!!!!!!!
While writing this post I suddenly got very sentimental when I remembered my birthday only a few years ago when another little girl loved her auntie’s birthday cake …
Why do children have to grow up so fast???? SNIFF!!
PS.: Hahahahaha! Miriam confused her daughter for her little sister in this picture
Only now do I see the likeness … SIGH again.
Flowers and Architects
Sigh – it’s been almost a week already since my sister Miriam and niece Anna’s departure. Crazy!
We’re still enjoying Miriam’s birthday flowers on our kitchen table. The bunch gets smaller every day, but they’re still a colorful memory of our nice time together.
“Auntie Mimi??”
In the meantime magic-castle-architect-to-be Erik

continues to build fascinating structures like this one (I really like this one, don’t you?) …
… and this one – this one is in fact “a room for Lilly with a tower and a door that we can close when she is very noisy”.
Oh, and here is a flashback to Miriam & Anna’s day of departure. I forgot to add this video to that post
Enjoy!
I adoooore my cousin Anna!
I want to be just like her and do everything she does!
Thank you, Anna, for being so patient with your little cousin!!
Hey Lilly, let’s have some fun!
Not now, Erik, …
I’m busy keeping Mama on her toes pretending I’m going to fall out of my swing.
Oh, alright. I guess I’m just going to hang around then.
Or maybe I should check what Anna’s up to again.
Table Mountain, …

We miss you, Anna & Mimi & SEBI too of course!
Happy Birthday, Mimi!
Today is Miriam’s birthday!! We’ve just returned from a beautiful morning at Blauberg Strand and are now getting ready to start braai-ing (barbecueing).
The last couple of days have been great and busy and once again I have to present the highlights to you in a boring slideshow
Here we are – at Blauberg Strand, Tygerberg Nature Reserve, Two Oceans Aquarium, Camps Bay and an ostrich ranch.
Tomorrow we will take the cable car up Table Mountain!

Sea, Monkeys and Botany
I’m super tired today, so please excuse this incredibly uncreative summary of our visit to the SA Museum, Mouille Point playground and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Round and Round
My sister and niece – Miriam and Anna – are visiting us at the moment! After more than two weeks of beautiful spring weather Cape Town seems to have decided that it cannot expose German visitors to such unusual Winter temperatures and adjusted them WAY down!
Our plans to go for a nice walk on the Mouille Point promenade had to be turned into a scenic DRIVE after a howling and freezing South Easter (or SUMMER wind) chased us straight back into our cars.
For Anja’s sake we at least stopped at De Waal Park (the doggie park) for a little stroll which also did us humans good.
