Weekend For Two :) :)

Before my parents came to visit Glenn and I spent a lovely night away in Tulbagh (thanks to Granny and Oupa! Thank you!)

Since our little camera is now at the doctor’s all I have to offer is this gallery of the wonderful time  we spent enjoying good food and wine, relaxed conversation, great scenery, good music by Albert Frost http://www.albertfrost.com and Arno Carstens, a bit of sightseeing and best of all (for me) just staring into space and saying/doing nothing while sipping my coffee/wine/whatever.

Erik Ahoi

This morning Erik and I joined an Eko Yacht Tour organised by the Two Oceans Aquarium.

It was Erik’s first time on a boat and I’m not sure who was more excited about it – him or strange me who is fascinated by the oceans and the life within, but gets awfully uncomfortable on or in water that is nor perfectly still and warm.

Luckily I’d picked up some pills/syrup for motion sickness on our way there because despite taking it I still ended up feeling queasy. To be honest I already start feeling queasy before I even set foot on a boat because I get so stressed out thinking that I might get seasick.

I was relieved to at least be able to wrap Erik up in a life jacket.

We enjoyed beautiful views along the coast and were lucky to spot many many dolphins swimming around us.

Unfortunately we did receive a damp-er before even leaving the harbor when a wave hit us hard and soaked not only our pants, but also my camera which immediately gave up it’s ghost.

Erik was shocked into silence and shivering (I was glad I’d packed spare pants for “accidents”. Funny that I never thought they might me soaked “outside in”. His underwear was still dry :P ), but since our safe return has advertised this event as the absolute highlight of the whole trip. I think that wave may just have created his first lasting memory.

Regarding the camera I’m glad I’ve still got some old photos in stock or this would be the immediate end of the blog for a while. As it is I will still be able to feed from a weekend in Thulbach and of course good times with Nena & Nobbi. :)

On a more cheerful note …

… I continue my flashback.

Pssst, don’t tell Erik that one day when he was in kindergarten Lilly got to GO TO THE BEACH!

And here she is, busy busy and super cool in Mommy’s sunglasses.

(Urg? What’s WORDPRESS doing? That’s not the right order! But WHO CARES??? I can finally insert many photos at a time which saves me, like, HOURS!!! Oh, goodie, I can blog myself (and you) insane!! YIPPIEH!)

So, this is not Lilly, but Nena LOVEingly cleaning her feet of sand.

The two lovebirds again.

And again.

There she is! Still all cooool.

Having lots of fun.

Suddenly she demanded to have a look at the “water”. She was very impressed, but refused to go closer.

Pick up sand, throw the sand. Repeat!

There comes Nena – typical Mom. Goes shopping and buys something for her kids. Sounds familiar. Without her I’d be in rags.

Nena, it’s quarter past nine – SCRABBLE time!

Sniff, I think we must start to online-Scrabble.

The Kohlrabie Rock Band

After watching a video of this amazing little girl …

… Erik felt the urge to perform two of his favorite Coldplay songs for me. In the end he ran off to fetch Daddy’s Michael Schumacher book in order to pretend using it as a song book (like Mommy).

We then decided to play together! Lilly watched this for a while until she decided to manipulate the camera to get us to let her join the band.

And that’s how the Kohlrabie Rock Band came into being!

Rooiels

Just before Christmas I wanted to place my dog food order like I always do only to find out that I had apparently not received a whole lot of emails from my supplier informing me that they would be closed for a couple of weeks over the holidays. Fortunately they still had a bit of stock left which they offered I could collect after Christmas.

When I told Glenn about this he suggested we combine the collection with a little trip for the whole family.

This little  trip turned into a spontaneous whole afternoon on the coast road with a stop in Rooiels.

The drive was wonderful – come join us for a a bit!

In Rooiels we went into the next best (and only) little shop, loaded ourselves with drinks and icecream only to be told that they only accept cash and that there is no ATM in town.

So we put everything back onto the shelves and went to the restaurant next door where we enjoyed apple pie and ice cream.

Although we were only there for about an hour the little coastal town made us feel like on holiday – which we were I suppose :P

I think we must come back – this time with more drinks, snacks, car entertainment and nappies :)

Nostalgia

Before I post the pictures of Rooiels that Glenn promised I want to show you some images of our outing to Hout Bay today …

Little table dancer at the fish & chips place …

… and everyone enjoying their ice creams for desert.

I’ll soon post more pics of our fun time at the beach!

Phew!

Maybe next year decorating cookies will be a truly fun event (for me too), but this year I must admit that it is still more stress than fun for me – although Erik at least had a blast I think.

He most enjoyed nibbling on the cookies, eating the decoration, copying Lilly who put a (closed) bottle of food coloring in her mouth, sucked on it and ended up with red lips, teeth and hands – Erik matched her beautifully in blue … sigh, anyway, at least it is DONE! :)
