On a more cheerful note …

… I continue my flashback.

Pssst, don’t tell Erik that one day when he was in kindergarten Lilly got to GO TO THE BEACH!

And here she is, busy busy and super cool in Mommy’s sunglasses.

(Urg? What’s WORDPRESS doing? That’s not the right order! But WHO CARES??? I can finally insert many photos at a time which saves me, like, HOURS!!! Oh, goodie, I can blog myself (and you) insane!! YIPPIEH!)

So, this is not Lilly, but Nena LOVEingly cleaning her feet of sand.

The two lovebirds again.

And again.

There she is! Still all cooool.

Having lots of fun.

Suddenly she demanded to have a look at the “water”. She was very impressed, but refused to go closer.

Pick up sand, throw the sand. Repeat!

There comes Nena – typical Mom. Goes shopping and buys something for her kids. Sounds familiar. Without her I’d be in rags.

Nena, it’s quarter past nine – SCRABBLE time!

Sniff, I think we must start to online-Scrabble.

This and That

Here some stuff I haven’t shown you yet. Most recent is this one – this morning Lilly tried to pick up the chalk that was lying on the floor. Every time she picked one up the bucket would tip over and the  others would fall out. She found that very amusing herself :P

The following picture was taken last weekend. You might remember her unusual sleeping positions in the past? Well, she is keeping up her habit (it’s not so unusual, but very cute I think).

Erik LOVES his new balancing bike. Sometimes he takes it to kindergarten with him, but most times he prefers to ride the ones that are there (then he doesn’t have to share his own).

He has now also started drawing “things”. The other day he drew his first “man”.

Here’s Lilly – after waking up she often likes to hang on to her cuddle blankie or bunny – or both.

Thanks again to Rika and Wolfgang for the great shirts!!

The other day Geraldine stayed over night babysitting and brought her little daughter Lauren Fay who Erik instantly “fell in adoration” with. You should have seen him show off his toys and skills! :)

And finally- talking of skills – here’s Lilly practicing her fine motor ones.(http://tafelbergmom.wordpress.com/2011/08/27/a-practical-tip/)

Sibling fun (for a change)

Erik is very jealous of Lilly at the moment and this evening I could for the first time observe how Lilly in return complained loudly and actively when her brother tried to take over her bedtime cuddle and reading with Mama again.

But there are also very peaceful moments when Erik really enjoys his little sister. Sometimes he seems surprised himself that she can actually be fun!

Peekaboo and a sneaky cameraman

I was playing peekaboo with Lilly this morning when Erik came to tell me  …

… about how he was helping Geraldine.

Later I tried to take a video of Lilly when SOMEBODY sneakily took over filming. WHO could this be???

Happy Birthday, Lilly!

It’s Lilly’s first birthday today and while she and Erik are taking their nap I quickly bring you the highlights of the day (so far).

We got up early so we would have time for a family breakfast and unwrapping of presents. Our little sunshine has been in an extra good mood today since she woke up and enjoyed all the attention immensely.

Erik enjoyed helping Lilly unwrap her presents and had a hard time not claiming all of them for himself. Here are his and Lilly’s penguin becoming friends.

There is no question about which Lilly’s favorite present is …

After breakfast Geraldine, the kids and I went to the aquarium. Thanks to Geraldine Lilly could today enjoy the fishies from Mommy’s arm and get a lot more attention than usual! :)

Now we’re waiting for Granny and Oupa to come visit and Daddy is also coming home early!

More later!!

Lots of love from the Rabies!

Thank You, Nobbi, …

… for the weather tipp!

My father tends to know the weather forecast for Cape Town better than me. Yesterday for example he emailed me suggesting we plan a nice outing for today. So we did.

Here the highlights of this morning at Blauberg Strand.

Sea Air …

… is said to help one recover from illness.

So when the weather forecast promised a lovely Tuesday followed by endless days of winter weather I decided to take the kids to the beach.

It unfortunately didn’t magically take our flu away, but we nonetheless spend a lovely morning at Blauberg Strand.

After some sandcastle building …

… Geraldine took Lilly for a walk in the pram …

… while Erik and I went to play at (and in) the rock pools.

He had a great time climbing, …

… meeting a “robot” …

… and running into the pools (including an unintended dip).

Mama: “Erik, don’t go too far in, your shoes are not high enough.”

*repeat*

*repeat*

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIL!!!! (toddler has fallen over. Arms in COLD water up to elbows, unable to move. Mission Mama get toddler out without getting soaked herself. Super Mama succeeds. Toddler moves on to more running into pools.

1,2,3 …

… GO!

Finally we all had coffee (Geraldine and myself) and lunch (kids) at my favorite Ons Huisie.

All the sun and fresh air did all of us good. We’re still struggling to shake this flu off, but are getting better day by day.
