On a more cheerful note …

… I continue my flashback.

Pssst, don’t tell Erik that one day when he was in kindergarten Lilly got to GO TO THE BEACH!

And here she is, busy busy and super cool in Mommy’s sunglasses.

(Urg? What’s WORDPRESS doing? That’s not the right order! But WHO CARES??? I can finally insert many photos at a time which saves me, like, HOURS!!! Oh, goodie, I can blog myself (and you) insane!! YIPPIEH!)

So, this is not Lilly, but Nena LOVEingly cleaning her feet of sand.

The two lovebirds again.

And again.

There she is! Still all cooool.

Image

Having lots of fun.

Suddenly she demanded to have a look at the “water”. She was very impressed, but refused to go closer.

Image

Pick up sand, throw the sand. Repeat!

There comes Nena – typical Mom. Goes shopping and buys something for her kids. Sounds familiar. Without her I’d be in rags.

Nena, it’s quarter past nine – SCRABBLE time!

Sniff, I think we must start to online-Scrabble.

I’m so proud!

I’ve got my own highchair now!

I’m such a little lady!

To be honest it’s my brother’s and he got the beautiful new one. Mama and Daddy forgot to say that my one needs to have all the nooks and holes for my tray and harness.

Instead of being grateful Erik was not thrilled to have to give his beloved chair to his baby sister. He had to be pursuaded with a “heliclopter” and icecream.

I Can’t Believe …

… Daddy’s eating my rice cereal!!!

(Erik chose this first hairband for his baby sister today when he was shopping with Mama)

Green, Green, Green … And Gerald-ine!

That’s terrible rhyming I admit. But so what!

As you probably remember we recently had our scullery steps taken down. A few months before that we took our shrivelled up Hydrangas out of the flower bed in front of our deck. Also there’s always been a bare area of ground around our car port.

So this week we had lawn put onto those three places thus making our little yard a wee bit bigger and prettier.

This section is still a bit patchy (long story …), but will soon overgrow.

This is the former flowerbed where we’ll probably put up an inviting bench at some stage.

And this is the car port section.

Another change here at home – and one that has made a far greater difference in our lives – is that Selina doesn’t work for us anymore.

That is also a LONG story (and one that I don’t feel like telling as I’m just so glad that that book’s closed!). To summon things up – after another week (!) of unexcused absense (this time she was not in jail, but just sulking), we had reason to dismiss her which we did.

Fortunately we quickly found a lovely lady to take her place and who is now brightening our days with her friendly and kind nature. Erik took to her immediately and even has his bottle with her, reads with her and lets her brush his teeth already.

Well, as our time with Selina proved, we can’t tell yet how things will work out with Geraldine. Nevertheless while things were bumpy with Selina from the beginning, it’s looking much rosier now. Plus we’ll just think positive.

This said we hereby introduce Geraldine (busy checking Erik’s sandpit for button spiders).

Finally a little snapshot from today when Erik – the Fireman Sam Fan – came to Mama saying “Look, Mama, gotta helmet like Fire Sam!” :)

Chewies And Nonsense

When the babies wouldn’t give Mama a moment’s rest today, she gave them something to chew upon.

Here they are – Lilly nibbling on her baby biscuit and Anja on her chewy.

Mjam mjam! I love my biscuit!

Oh no, dropped it!

Biscuit??

At least Anja was too occupied with her own treat to take any notice of dropped baby biscuits.

(Look at those cute big bear paws!)

Later, when Meli was making supper, Erik and Anja explored (and emptied) kitchen cupboards together.

Full of nonsense those two!

Little Drummer Girl

I’m SUCH a big girl now! I eat fruit and rice cereal, I drink formula and water from the bottle, I sleep on my tummy (much too Mama’s distaste), I can sit on my own for short periods (particularly on our garden slope), I can stand while holding on to Mama’s hands, I can roll myself around, I can even say BRRRRRRRRR and BWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

AND – I can play the pots!

Of course my big brother always want to do what I’m doing when he sees I’m getting attention.

(as his Uncle Sebi would say: “Ich bin auch toll!”)

And of course he then always has to do it faster, louder and crazier to top me. I must admit – I didn’t think of using Anja’s toy to play the pot. That IS quite impressive.

Anyway, I can play the loudest!

BANG BANG!

And I can eat the “stick”!

(although Erik had to prove of course that he can do that too :) He drooled all over Mama’s wooden fork, probably thinking that he was looking incredibly cute … )

Today

Now that we have Anja we have a certain routine on our weekend mornings. To socialise and train our puppy properly Meli takes her to puppy classes

http://www.superpup.co.za

with Gil Painter

http://www.superpup.co.za/Gill%20Painter.htm

on Saturday mornings. We still go to Deerpark Cafe, but now on Sundays and WITH Anja of course. She is not fussed at all by all the running and screaming kids and likes all the attention she gets. Afterwards she is so tired that she happily snoozes under the table while we have breakfast.

Here she is this morning before we left. During mealtimes we put her in her crate so that she learns not to beg or “hang around” waiting for things to fall off the table. She doesn’t mind very much as you can see.

And here you can see her fast asleep behind Lilly after exploring the playground with Erik and Meli.

Before we got Anja Lilly would be the one who’d get attention from the other customers. Now they fuss over Anja. Lilly doesn’t mind as long as she gets attention from Mama and Daddy. :)

Erik was most impressed by the older boys playing with the sprinkler in the park.

Afterwards he impressed Daddy with incredible Appletiser-BURPS!

Meli had a “Red Cappucchino” for the first time. Have you ever had that? It’s a Rooibos tea with froth and honey – very yummy!

Later today Glenn and the kids went to visit Granny & Oupa while Meli went shopping. After supper Lilly had her first baby biscuit which she went wild over.
