Happy New Year!
On the last day of 2010 we combined an errand with some fun and paid the playground a visit.
Unfortunately it was full of flowers which were very popular with the bees. Erik did not like that and even refused to go down the slide for fear of ending up amongst them.
He also did not understand why Mama wanted him to pose in front of a tree.
But he did enjoy the carousel and the swings while Lilly was entertained by Selina in the shade.
(Thank you, Cindy & Family for the cute tortoise outfit!)
The seeds from this tree that we found on the ground also were very suspicious to Erik who figured that you can’t be sure that bees don’t live in them too. So Mama was not allowed to take them home for crafts.
Altogether we had good fun, although it ended with a record tantrum when we came home. (it involved wanting to drive Mommy’s car, not wanting to go inside and the like which can be translated into “I’m so hot, thirsty, hungry and tired.”)
After some Spaghetti Bolognese and a good sleep the world was a happy place again and at six o’clock we headed over to Angie’s and Clinton’s who had invited us to join them for a pizza evening with them and their family.
Once again their lovely pizza oven was a big hit (look at the back).
We had a really great time and the evening was wonderfully balmy with no wind.
It was the latest night the kids ever had, but they really seemed to enjoy it. Erik especially as he got to play with the hose pipe, …
…dance to the music in the lounge and see real stars for only the second time in his life.
Lilly played on Mama’s lap …
… and then just chilled with her eyes open until nine o’clock when we went home to put the kids to sleep. (Glenn went back later and partied wildly ’til morning
)
Today it’s unexpectedly raining which makes this day a nice, lazy start into the new year.
We hope that all of you had a good start as well and wish you all the best for 2011!
Love from Glenn & Erik and Meli & Lilly
Cookie Art
Today Erik and Mama decorated the cookies they’d baked yesterday. It was great fun …
…interrupted by a wild tantrum involving a nappy change …
… and we proudly present …
… the results!
And they’re YUMMY too!
Post-Christmas Fun
Since we didn’t have much time before Christmas to do fun Christmas stuff like baking cookies we are now catching up and did exactly that today.
Mama and Erik …
… baked two trays of star-, manie- and heart shaped cookies …
… and only burnt a few of them.
We were going to decorate them too, but then Granny and Oupa came to visit and we gladly postponed to tomorrow.
Later we were very surprised to find two notifications for parcels in our post box! Straight away we drove to the postoffice to collect them.
One was for Erik …
… and turned out to be a late birthday present from Brenda and Jim!
Just think – it had actually gotten lost on a ship to China because the Americans don’t know where Africa is!
Well, it finally found its way here and Erik loooves his new Etcho Sketch!
Thank you, Brenda & Jim!!!!!!!
The other parcel …
… was a present from Lilly’s and Erik’s great aunt Gabi …
… and turned out to be a beautiful nostalgic picture book for Lilly.
Thank you, Gabi & Gunther!!
And thank you, Nan for the cool car and the pink puppy!!
Only Five More Weeks …
… until this little furball will be ready to come live with us!
Vielen Dank, liebe Bim, Christina und Nena & Nobbi!
Fuer eure Weihnachtskarten, die gestern angekommen sind! Und fuer die schoene Bernsteinkette von Christina!
Ant’s Mom’s In Town!
Ant’s Mom’s in town and not only that – they spent the weekend in Blauberg Strand which means we HAVE to meet them – or they us, whichever way you want to look at it
…
… at Ons Huisie. What a chore …!
The kids looked cool in their sunglasses on our nice walk on the beach.
The Second Day Of Christmas
Glenn says this is not the second day of Christmas, nor was yesterday the first. Well, in Germany it is and so it stays.
Here some highlights of the day after the early morning garden watering and front yard happiness.
Yummy breakfast with bubbly, …
… fireman Erik saving the day again, …
… the boys busy with their laptops, …
… a visit to Fairview to get some nice cheeses and wines as well as to look at the goats and their tower (“Mama, uppi uppi!”), …
… a funny scarecrow (three in fact
), …
… looking cute in Clara’s hat and holding my hands tightly, …
… pretty flowers, …
… Lilly’s Mommy-lunch in the shade which made our little girl …
… very happy!
Looking at the fishies with Daddy, …
… a big poo nappy and tickly grass, …
… playing with my mini fire engine at Fairview, …
… and coffee art in the restaurant for Mommy and Daddy who felt a bit stressed for some reason despite the peaceful surroundings. Sometimes it just happens that way.
Good Morning!!
It’s 7am, Erik and Daddy are on their way to water Granny’s and Oupa’s garden. It’s another BEAUTIFUL, clear summer morning.
As Lilly and Meli wave goodbye standing in the warm sun, looking at our blooming front yard in the quiet of the beginning day …
… Meli feels SO HAPPY!
Look at our hibiscus (the big green ball)! A few weeks ago it was cut back to almost nothing and now it’s going wild! Just imagine it in bloom!
Today we will put our tiny gammon roast into the oven and maybe take a nice Sunday drive to a beach.
Meli sends some warm sunrays to Germany. This was taken in front of her parent’s house.
On The First Day Of Christmas My True Love Said To Me …
… leeeeet’s have a braaaaaaaaaaaaai!!
Let’s just be lazy, play with our fire engines …
(thanks again to Angie & Clinton for the beautiful Star Jasmine!)
… and our Sir Prance-a-lots, …
… let’s admire Angie’s and Clinton’s tree …
… and let’s water the front yard and spray Daddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
U-oh! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Mama!! *SCREECH*
Merry Christmas!
While Lilly was sleeping and Daddy and Erik were playing blocks in Erik’s room …
… Santa managed to sneak into our house …
… and magically leave lots of presents for Erik and Lilly!
Erik was so thrilled over the first (a parking garage with car wash and elevator) that he almost forgot there were more.
But then(!) he unwrapped a FIREENGINE which was and stayed his favorite.
But he was also thrilled to get his own toolbox (just like Daddy’s!) …
… and laptop! (just like Mommy’s and Daddy’s)
Lilly overslept the start of it all, but the woke to unwrap some overwhelmingly stimulating crinkly and chewy toys …
… like Sir Prance-a-lot …
… and she enjoyed her new bib and socks (with bunny ears!).
Now they are both in bed – Erik with his new Reindeer and Piglet cuddly toys and his fireengine parked in its garage (under the table). He really enjoyed his new book “Lost And Found” about a boy who finds a penguin outside his door.
Everything is suddenly quiet.
Three presents are still left for him to unwrap tomorrow and there are two more …!
Santa brought something for Mommy and Daddy! Yeah! Thanks, Santa!
Over another glass of wine we are now going to unwrap Stephen Hawkin’s “Grand Design” as well as Terry Pratchett’s newest novel and then we’ll probably end up gobbling them up.
Merry Christmas to all of you!
A little fun treat (this is why we’re getting a dog):
