Gnome

Looking at this Winter garden gnome which we spotted in our backyard last weekend …

… one wouldn’t guess that we are presently enjoying balmy 27 degrees in Cape Town.

Meli digs South African winters!

Hopp Hopp Hopp!

Before he was even born, Erik got a rocking horse from Granny and Oupa.

Now – 19 months later – he’s finally big enough to ride it!

And as you can see …

… he absolutely loves it!

Mmmm… Piiiizza!

Angie and Clinton have got their very own pizza oven and from time to time we are lucky to be invited for an afternoon of pizza making!

Last weekend was such an occasion and we thoroughly enjoyed creating our own pizzas …

… and just chilling with Angie and Clinton, as well as Angie’s Mom and Grandma (sorry, we were a bit lazy with the picture taking).

Erik preferred cruising around in his car.

First Anniversary!

On Monday 24 May, Meli and Glenn celebrated their first wedding anniversary!

That evening they relived their first date by flirting over yummy burgers at the ROYALE EATERY on Long Street while Erik enjoyed some special Granny and Oupa time :)

Biker Dude

This morning Erik had no trouble getting out of bed (not that he normally does!) as he opened up his eyes to spot his new TRICYCLE!

Although he can’t reach the pedals very well yet, he nevertheless practised hard today to make sure nobody ever messes with him on the road!

Out of the way! Here I come!

I just wish I could PEDAL! Sigh.

Oh, well, I’ll just get comfortable then.

What? Me? Cute?

Giggle …

Don’t be fooled! Grrr….

Caala Caala!

Erik’s new favorite word is “CALA”! (Usually” CALA CALA!”) By this our affectionate little boy means CUDDLE CUDDLE and it is normally accompanied by – yes –  cuddles of course or him cuddling up in the next best cloth, mat or blanket he can get a hold of.

After he so enjoyed cuddling in his cot the other day, we built him his own “cuddle corner” next to his bed. It’s become his favorite spot!

A cuddle corner is not complete though without someone to cuddle WITH. So besides his “Baba” whom he takes with him he calls Daddy, Mama or Selina and tells them to “SIT!” next to him (he underlines it with a pat on the floor next to him).

And then his cuddle partner must of course also be covered with blankets!

Ahhh! Bliss!

This morning as Meli was making breakfast, Erik disappeared with a piece of apple. After a few minutes of quiet she went to look for him and found him under the blankets in his cuddle corner happily munching his apple.

Mama, sit! Cala cala!!

A Saturday Morning

Saturdays normally mean breakfast time with Ant for Erik and Meli. Due to Glenn’s super early appointment with his hairdresser in Seapoint today it turned into a family breakfast.

So we got up earlier than we normally do on a weekDAY and drove through to town. At WIM’s salon …

… Meli enjoyed a cup of coffee while Glenn had his hair done …

… by (Eu-)Gene …

(and survived it, too)

… and Erik explored the cool turning chairs.

Afterwards we picked up Ant and enjoyed a long and yummy breakfast in Shelley’s Gourmet Cafe’s courtyard.

Erik passed the time sitting by the kitchen door snacking and watching the staff …

… and (ahem…) throwing stones at the pigeons.

It’s very difficult at the moment to keep him from something (at something entertaining). The other day he threw his play broom a very impressive distance … at Mia! Twice! Of course this resulted in a serious talk with Mama and lots of screaming.

But just try to put yourself into his shoes – the result is just so entertaining! (poor Mia!)

Cape Autumn

Last Saturday was Meli’s birthday, so Glenn took her for a drive and a picnic in the Cape winelands.

This is where we had our pinic:

Meli did pack her camera as well as the best intentions, but in the end she was simply too relaxed to worry about finding the right location and composition.

Nevertheless she has googled two photos for you of the area which she thought you might enjoy (see above and below).
